Future's fame as a songwriter finally broke through to the mainstream when he penned most of YC's Braggadocios BET Hip-Hop Award nominated blockbuster "Racks featuring Future." The chorus, "I got racks on racks on racks..." became an instant smash in the clubs, on the radio, and was adored by everyone from fans to major artists such as Lil Wayne. "Racks" bubbled in the underground circuit of the south for six months before popping into mainstream this summer. In the meantime, Future started capitalizing on his buzz by putting together immaculate mixtapes such as Dirty Sprite. Songs such as "Tony Montana" would solidify him as the leader of the new wave of Atlanta bred superstars.

On Wednesday morning (February 1), Cornelius was found dead in his Sherman Oaks, California home with a gunshot wound to the head. Sources told TMZ that Cornelius’ death appears to be a self-afflicted suicide.It was also reported that police discovered Cornelius’ body at around 4 a.m. PT on Wednesday and he was later taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was 75 years old.

Sean “Diddy” Combs is expanding his entertainment empire. The Bad Boy mogul is planning to launch a music-themed cable network at the end of the year, according to several sources.
Broadcasting & Cable reports that Diddy’s new channel will be called Revolt and is aiming to go live on 12/12/12.
Former MTV programming chief Andy Schuon is reportedly involved with the well-funded venture. He previously headed a music channel called International Music Feed (IMF).
Diddy has been in talks with Comcast and Time Warner Cable to distribute Revolt, which is being described as a music and music news channel with an urban skew. One source likened it to the old days of MTV, but catered to an African-American audience.

Megaupload’s problems continue to mount. Now, the site run by Swizz Beatz has been shut down.
The Department of Justice said that this is among the largest criminal copyright cases ever brought by the United States. The news broke a day after major websites like Wikipedia and Google protested against the U.S. House of Representatives’ Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA, and the Senate’s similar Protect IP act.
On Thursday (January 19), the federal government took the action against Megaupload.com, and also arrested several members of the company, hitting them with multiple racketeering and copyright infringement charges, according to a statement issued by the U.S. Department of Justice. The Associated Press reported that Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom (also known as Kim Schmitz) was arrested Thursday in New Zealand along with three others.
Swizz Beatz, Megaupload’s CEO, was not charged in the indictment, and as of now, it is unclear how the producer/rapper’s involvement with the company will play into the case.
A federal indictment alleges that the site, which allows users to transfer large files, has generated more than $175 million in criminal proceed and costs copyright-holders more than $500 million in lost revenue from pirated movies, albums and other materials.
